Our league concept is very different than what is typically provided in North America as we pride ourselves in providing professional coaching for our young stars of the future. The concept behind the one hour sessions will be to provide our players as many touches as possible through skill development and small sided games in a fun filled environment.

Our typical one hour session will be as follows:
Wee Copas (5/6 year olds): 3v3
SUNDAY: Dribbling Games integrated with spatial awareness and body coordination. Even numbered / Numbers down games: 1v1, 2v1, 2v2 and 3v1

Lil Sambas (7/8 year olds): 4v4
Sunday:
Dribbling and Passing Games integrated with spatial awareness and body coordination. Even numbered / Numbers down games: 1v1, 2v1, 2v2, 3v2 and 3v3

Tangos (9-11 year olds): 4v4 - 7v7
SUNDAY: Receiving the ball, Running with the ball (1v1 moves and turns), Retaining the ball & Releasing the ball. Even numbered / Numbers down games: 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3

WHY SMALL SIDED GAMES

1. Individual technical development by touching the soccer ball more often, therefore becoming more skillful
2. Tactical development by making more quality decisions during the game
3. Reduced field size allows players to be more physically efficient
4. More opportunity to solve problems that only the game presents
5. More exposure to attacking and defending situations
6. More opportunities to score goals (PURE EXCITEMENT)

The “Small-Sided” environment is a developmentally appropriate environment for our young soccer players. It’s a FUN environment that focuses on the player.

We have structured our program based upon the WELLNESS TO WORLD CUP - LONG TERM PLAYER DEVELOPMENT MODEL by the Canadian Soccer Association. All of our programs have been structured with the long term vision of THE 10 YEAR RULE. Scientific research has determined that it takes at least 10 year and 10, 000 hours of training for athletes in any sport to reach elite performance levels.

You can visit the Canadian Soccer Association website to learn to read more about the Long Term Player Development Model.

Each player will receive a full playing kit (jersey & shorts) and will be expected to wear it to each game day.

On our final session for the summer we will host our Soccer Expo from 5:30 - 7:30pm in which our Wee Copas, Lil Sambas and Tangos will have an opportunity to win lots of fun prizes and gifts at the various stations as well as having a big potluck bbq.
